What's happening

Things have been going well around here ... the kids are back in school from Christmas break and things seem to be getting back to normal, just the way I like it.  Although I love Christmas, it sure is a busy (and stressful) time of year.  Basketball is in full swing.  We have practices on Monday night.  On the plus side, the kids have practice on the same night of the week.  The drawback is that Kyla's practice is from 5:30 to 6:30 and Mason's doesn't start until 7:30 and goes until 8:30.  That makes for a long, tiring day for the kiddos.  Let's not forget homework, reading, dinner and showers.  The games are on Saturdays.  Super low key and family friendly.

Hmm, what's going on with me.  Nothing new.  Work is busier and more stressful than ever.  We're talking about record breaking numbers of patients.  We saw 330 the other day.  Woweee.  It's just too much sometimes.  I love that I only have to work two days a week ... any more around there would kill me.  Still doing Cross fit 3 times a week (occasionally just 2).  Loving it and have never been more muscular.  Even lost 17 pounds.  Busy, busy with my hobbies.  My favorites are painting, scrapbooking (I do it the Project Life way now), cardmaking and reading.  Click on the link if you don't know what that is.  Browsing Pinterest is also a favorite pastime of mine.  I spend too much time on that, for sure.

Mason has been doing great in school.  During his last conference his teacher gave him a Certificate of Outstanding Citizenship and Academics.  He said that he only gave 3 of them out and Mason was basically a model student and great guy.  Made me so proud.  He rarely needs any help with his homework and usually does it without having to be nagged.  He is currently obsessed with playing Minecraft on the Xbox and watching YouTube videos about Minecraft on the Xbox (as with all 9 year old boys from what I've heard).  The challenge for us is limiting his time on these things.  If I could do it over again, I wouldn't let him get it to start with.  Just one more thing to deal with now.  He has a couple of good friends in school and still gets together with his best buddy, Jack ... his longtime friend from preschool.

Kyla has been doing so well in school also.  She isn't struggling in any area.  Her teacher raved about what a good student and nice person she is during her last conference.  Neither of them even needed conferences or progress reports this trimester.  She's learning fractions in school and needs a little help with it on her homework but is catching on.  Video games aren't an issue ... she does love watching Sponge Bob Squarepants on TV though (it's awful).  Kyla is easy going and rarely has ups and downs.  Luckily, unlike a lot of the other girls in 2nd grade, she is drama free and doesn't really get into any of that nonsense.  I hope it stays that way.

Brian is busy with his classes at Sacramento State and work.  When he finds the time he goes fishing or plays on his guitar.  He takes great care of us ... such a good man.
