Camping at Ice House Reservoir

Schools out and we couldn't wait to take our first camping trip of the summer.  I had heard so many good things about Ice House Reservoir and after going, can't believe we haven't been before.  It's so close to home - about an hour and a half away and stunningly beautiful.  I'd compare it to Lake Tahoe minus the crowds and freezing cold water.  Our campsite was huge and super cheap.  Can't wait to go back again.

It was a fun filled week.  We played tons of Uno Attack, swimming, kayaking, laughing and of course, ice cream from the General Store.  The only thing missing, our dear friend Roscoe.  This was our first camping trip without him and it just wasn't the same.  Miss you dear buddy.

Sleepy girl ... on our way.

My morning coffee spot - aaaah, fresh air.  Told you it was beautiful.

 Child labor.

I really need to put these kiddos to work more.  :-)

We were able to walk our kayak down to a perfect swimming spot from our campsite.  Brian is relaxing with a cold beverage.

Kyla wanted to take the kayak out on her own.  After a very brief tutorial from Brian, she was off.  The thing is ... he forgot to tell her how to turn around.  She gets out pretty far (I was nervous-life jacket of course) and jumps out of the kayak.  By then, I'm worried that she's scared and send Brian out for a rescue.  It was like an episode of Baywatch.  Thank goodness I'm married to a great swimmer.

My loves ...

Our campsite had tons of lizards and the kids had a blast trying to catch them.  Mason was so good ... lightning fast and catching these little guys.  All the kids in the campground kept asking him to catch them one.

Yuck.

Smooch time selfie.

Our swimming spot had the perfect rock to jump off of.

They jumped off of the smaller rock but had such fun.

Go Mason!

Love this photo.

My neighborhood

Just LOVE where we live now.  Only in my neighborhood can you go horseback riding on a random Sunday night.  Thanks Jenny.  OK, let me tell you.  I rode Wazette for a little while but it's SCARY without a saddle ... I don't know how Jenny does it.  Of course, Kyla wasn't nervous at all.

The entire time, Mason was like, "Get me off of here!"  It was too funny.  He also kept saying he wasn't much of a horse person.

Got this in the mail today.  Fun, fun.

Brian's Wyoming Trip

I've been bugging Brian for years to get pictures while on his annual guys fishing trip to Wyoming.  Well this year he finally listened!  Yay!

Isn't this a gorgeous photo (I did a little editing).  I love how beautiful the sky is there.

Blackberries!

There are a bunch of blackberry bushes down by the river and luckily we live less than a mile from them  ... last year we were a little late to pick them so we were all over it this year.  They were so sweet and we had a good time picking them.  We may have eaten more than we brought home.

Kyla and I made a cobbler when we got home.  I'd never made one before and it turned out delicious if I do say so myself.

Fun with neighbors ... friends

With summer vacation in full swing, the kids have been having a great time with their friends.  I just keep saying to myself ... I can't believe we get to live in this neighborhood and I'm so thankful that I get to raise my children here.  It's so much fun.

Cole stayed at our house overnight and Kyla couldn't wait to read him stories at bedtime.  She is so caring.

An afternoon of Fruit Ninja on the X-Box.

Another thing I'm thankful for ... our wonderful neighbors Tim and Jenny.  Kyla practically lives at their house and loves playing with Cole and the babies.  Jenny has become one of my best friends too.  Couldn't be better.  They have the most tame chickens I've ever seen.  (poor things).   Here they are with 2 of them.

Eeew.  The kids playing with Racer Snakes they found in the backyard.

Kyla hanging out with her friend from school - swimming and catching some rays.

Oakland A's Game with Granny

My mom came up for an A's game.  We got an early start to we could hang out in San Francisco for a while before game time.

Watching the Sea Lions at Pier 39.

A cute one of mom with the kiddo's ... getting blown away.

Family picture.

Don't they wish ... posing with some pretend donuts.  They looked so real.

 Me and my momma.

While in San Fran, it's a must to drive down Lombard Street.  This was the best photo I could get without getting car sick.  ;-)

Yay, this one turned out so cute!

Kyla is attached to my mom like a growth.  Buddies.

 Selfies.

Love the hat backwards look on him.

The game kept Kyla's interest for about 5 innings ... not bad.  She's a good girl though, never complains and watches a movie on Netflix (without volume).  Always considerate of others.  Not a fan of her migrant farmworker look here with the hat.  She sports this look a lot.

Keeping Granny warm.  Chilly but not cold.

Everyone crashed out on the way home.  Mom looks comfy doesn't she?  Poor thing.
