Schools out and we couldn't wait to take our first camping trip of the summer. I had heard so many good things about Ice House Reservoir and after going, can't believe we haven't been before. It's so close to home - about an hour and a half away and stunningly beautiful. I'd compare it to Lake Tahoe minus the crowds and freezing cold water. Our campsite was huge and super cheap. Can't wait to go back again.
It was a fun filled week. We played tons of Uno Attack, swimming, kayaking, laughing and of course, ice cream from the General Store. The only thing missing, our dear friend Roscoe. This was our first camping trip without him and it just wasn't the same. Miss you dear buddy.
Sleepy girl ... on our way.
My morning coffee spot - aaaah, fresh air. Told you it was beautiful.
Child labor.
I really need to put these kiddos to work more. :-)
We were able to walk our kayak down to a perfect swimming spot from our campsite. Brian is relaxing with a cold beverage.
Kyla wanted to take the kayak out on her own. After a very brief tutorial from Brian, she was off. The thing is ... he forgot to tell her how to turn around. She gets out pretty far (I was nervous-life jacket of course) and jumps out of the kayak. By then, I'm worried that she's scared and send Brian out for a rescue. It was like an episode of Baywatch. Thank goodness I'm married to a great swimmer.
My loves ...
Our campsite had tons of lizards and the kids had a blast trying to catch them. Mason was so good ... lightning fast and catching these little guys. All the kids in the campground kept asking him to catch them one.
Yuck.
Smooch time selfie.
Our swimming spot had the perfect rock to jump off of.
They jumped off of the smaller rock but had such fun.
Go Mason!
Love this photo.
My sweet girl and I.
