Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary

We live about 15 minutes from the cutest little zoo.  It's called the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary.  It's like $5 to get in and you could easily spend 2 - 3 hours there.  They have peacocks running loose and the most adorable bear.  I could've stayed and watched the bear all day.

Love letter from Kyla

I recently came home from work to find an adorable booklet that Kyla made for me.  She's full of sweet surprises, it almost brought tears to my eyes.

Mudcats

Kyla is playing on the Mudcats this year.  Her favorite positions were 1st base and catcher.  She loved being on a team of all boys.  She's definitely not boy crazy or anything but would almost always prefer to play with boys than girls.  She's the perfect mix between girly and tomboy.

Doing her thing playing catcher.

Hey batter, batter.

Swinging hard.

Love that face.

Running to 1st base.  Hustle girly.

Playing 1st base.  I think this position was best for her because she was involved in every play ... kept her from getting distracted.

Ready position.

One last picture, because it's so cute.

Snakes!

The kids usually hunt for frogs in the neighbors pond but they brought home snakes today.  Apparently they're harmless and are called Racers.  I don't know ... I didn't want any part of those things.  The kids wanted to keep them but I said, heck no.

Hard to believe, she used to FREAK OUT over flies.

Kyla's New Bicycle

Grammy and Grandpa Cyr got Kyla a new bicycle for her birthday.  As much as she loved her old Barbie bike, it was either a 14" or 16" and her knees were hitting handle bars.  It was time for a new one.  She is now the owner of a bright and shiny purple 20" bicycle.  We were worried that it was too big for her and she would have trouble riding it but as with everything she does ... she jumped on and basically rode off.  No guts, no glory as far as Kyla's concerned.

Kyla's Birthday - The After Party

We had a handful of girls come over for a sleepover after the party at Color Me Mine.  We were going to have 5 girls stay but one of them got homesick and went home around bedtime.  It turned out to be the perfect number.  All of the kids were super easy and got along great.

The trampoline is always a hit.

Opening gifts from the family now.

I love buying things for Kyla ... she gets so excited.  Doesn't matter if it's a pair of socks or what it is.  She's always appreciative.

She loved the American Girl soccer outfit from Auntie Sharon in Chicago.

New swimsuit.

Flip-Flops to match.

Ready for the beach.

Barbie Lego Set.

I was worried that bedtime would be difficult but at about 8:30, one of the girls asked me if we could set their sleeping bags up.  They all agreed it was time to cozy up and watch a show and after the show was over, they called for me to turn the TV off so they could go to bed.  It was that easy.

I set up some arts and crafts in the morning.

After craft time, we played outside with scooters and bikes.

Birthday Party - Color Me Mine

We had Kyla's 7th birthday party at Color Me Mine in Folsom.  Let me tell you, it was such a fun place for a party.  The best part was that we were able to have a party attendant ... she took care of everything and was so pleasant.  The coolest part was that she is the Ceramics teacher for our elementary school so most of the kids knew and loved her.  Such a small world, right?

Kyla is obsessed with Hello Kitty (as all 7 year old girls it seems).

Such a cute cake ... and yummy too.

Happy Birthday sweet one.  Stay just like you are.

Group shot of the girls and one annoying big brother.  Such a stinker.  Funny, huh?  Cropped him out as much as I could.

Awe, cute girls.

Kyla ... working so hard on her ceramics piece.

Grammy and Grandpa.

The boys.

Granny.  Not sure why I didn't have her take her sunglasses off.

Minimal decorations were needed.

Each girl got a nail polish, chap stick, lollipop and a friendship bracelet with their names on it.  Kyla helped with all of them.

My favorite picture of the day.  I was worth every penny and all of my time and effort to see her so happy.

Blowing out her candles.

We opened a few gifts there ... the kids couldn't wait.

Everyone that attended signed a plate for her.

Turned out great.
