Yellowstone Horseback Riding - Part 7

You have to 8 years old to go horseback riding in Yellowstone so we found a place just outside of the park in Gardiner, Montana.  The place we went through is called Flying Pig.  They have horseback riding and rafting and I highly recommend them if in the area.  Our guide was 17, it was his summer job and he was such a great kid, a pleasure to be around.  It was just the 3 of us, (Brian went fishing) and he pointed out a lot of interesting things, found old bones, a skull for the kids to take home and even talked sports with Mason.  He was such a positive influence.  He talked about how close he was with his family and about how hard he worked during the summers.  It was very relaxing ... we never felt rushed.  Afterwards, he took the kids to see the colts and bunnies (and even let the kids hold and feed them).  It was a great experience.

Mason wasn't too sure of it at first stating, "I'm not really a horse person".  Once he got on and realized his horse was really mellow, and it's not near as scary riding with a saddle (only has ridden our neighbor Jenny's horse without), he was good to go.  Huge smiles on his face and didn't want it to end.  I love seeing that kid happy.  He even told me later that he thought he may want to go to horse camp with Kyla next summer.

Kyla's horse was crazy fast ... kept trying to pass the guide up.  Mine on the other hand was SLOW, pulling up the rear.
