Valentine's Day fun

So last year, the kids and I did crafty Pinterest Valentine's for everyone.  It was a lot of work and I wonder if the other kids even noticed.  Doubtful.  This year we got store bought Valentine's.  Mason just handed out Fun Dips. (I know tons of sugar)  It's hard to find Valentine's that aren't cheesy, Be My Valentine, I Heart You, Be Mine, I'm Wild About You, etc, etc.  Even the sporty ones have a lame saying on them and I knew he wouldn't like that.  Kyla handed out Tootsie Pops and cute cards with stickers.  Done and done.

The kids woke up to donuts ... aaah, to be a kid again and be able to eat whatever you want and never gain weight.  It's not fair. 

 

 

Had planned on getting them a little something but because they are the most difficult kids in America to buy for ... I knew cash would be best.  Who doesn't love cash, right?  And chocolate?  Mason will have his spent in no time, Kyla has quite a little stash going.  My mom was in town and gave them some cash too.  They were happy campers.

Miscellaneous

Mason has been very sweet lately.  Not sure what's going on but I hope it continues.  I was just finishing getting ready the other day and he came in and said, "I spy something beautiful" ... as he was looking at me.  Honestly, it kind of caught me off guard.  Not that he doesn't say nice things anymore, it just doesn't happen as often.  He's growing up and sometimes seems uncomfortable giving complements.  I'll take them when I can.

Kyla was holding my had last week and looked at me and said, "Mom, if you weren't my mom, you would still be my best friend."  Love.

Kyla funny - She was putting on her underwear and they had Hello Kitty on them and she said, "Poor Hello Kitty, it's gonna be a bad day for you."  She can be so funny.

Fun with friends

We had Cole over the a sleepover.  They looked so cute on the couch together.

 

 

Having a bowl of cereal in the morning (in the same chair, of course).  They are such great friends.  She loves Cole and the babies (our 2 year old twin neighbors) so much.   

 

 

Jack's family invited Mason to go up to their cabin in Tahoe for the weekend.  There was snow on the ground but they had rain all weekend.  I'm sure they still had fun.  Kyla and I were jealous.

Had Ethan over for a sleepover - boys doing what boys do in the morning ... video games. 

Trixie gets spayed

Well, Trixie is about 7 months old and it was time to get her spayed.  We took her to our local vet, Oaks Village Veterinarian Clinic because we knew she would be in good hands.  Dr. Putty is also our neighbor.  I don't remember much about when we got Roscoe neutered other than he was so drugged when we took him home, he could barely stand up let alone walk.  It was too funny.

She rode in the back with Mason on the way home.  Nothing cuter than a boy and his dog. 

Trixie's weight was 46 lbs and we got out of there for $258.00.  Not bad.

When you have surgery, you get special treatment in our household.  She loved being up on OUR bed with the kids and didn't want to get down any time soon.  Kyla was over the moon.

They sent us home with a cone in case she started chewing at the surgical site.  I put in on her the next day while I was gone.  Let's just say she looked humiliated and hated it. 

Superbowl fun with Tim and Jenny

We went over to Tim and Jenny's to watch the Superbowl and enjoy yummy snacks.  (The eating part is the only thing I really like ... and the commercials which were a disappointment this year).

The kids love playing board games as do we.  After Brian's suggestion, I went to Target and got Sorry and we finally have a game that we all love.  So fun.

I think he's actually helping her out.  Good thing I caught this on camera.  ;-)

So, Brian insists that we all keep playing even after someone has one because what is really important is not being the "Ultimate Loser".  The one that comes in last.  As you can see, for this game, it was me.

And Dad is the "Ultimate Loser" now.  As of yet, the kids have won every game.  Cheaters!  Just kidding.

Family time at home (when we're all off) is my favorite ... as long as I don't have to cook dinner.  I'm a great cleaner-upper though.  Maybe one day I'll take a cooking class .... ugh, probably not.  Thank goodness Brian is a great cook.  Even though it makes me sad at times, that the kids are growing up so fast, they are a lot of fun to be around lately.  They keep us on our toes .... and laughing.

Kyla loves cooking lately.  Just about each time either one of us gets in the kitchen, she jumps right in and I have to say, she's getting pretty good at it.  Brian and Kyla made lasagna.  Yum.
