Happy Halloween

Halloween in our new neighborhood was the best.  There's very little traffic here, the kids have a blast trick or treating together and we have a perfect amount of houses in the loop.  One of the families in the area host a party every Halloween as well.  It's just drop in so we took the kids to a few houses, stopped by and had a drink or two and some yummy chili and went on our merry way.  The kids loves their spooky decorations too - tons of them.  Brian and I are meeting new friends and loving it.

Almost exactly the same height.  I loved the costumes they chose this year.

Isn't this the cutest cat you've ever seen.  She even let me put a little blush and eye make up on!  My Kyla girl isn't at all into make up or jewelry.  She looked so cute.

Cool ninja costume.  He kept the hood thingy on until it was time for snacking on some candy.

Chilling at the party (but really nagging us to go back out and Trick or Treat).

Cute Video

I just love this video of Kyla and Brian singing while we were carving our pumpkins.  Click here.

Pumpkin Carving

We waited until the last minute to carve our pumpkins because we have been on opposite shifts lately and wanted to both be off work.  Luckily,we were blessed with sunny/warm weather though.

Any excuse to use power tools, right?  It was so much quicker this way.

We used sharpies to draw faces on these milk jugs and put them out front with white lights in them.

Such a pretty face.

He loves his picture taken.  Can't you tell?

Busy, busy.  I think this was the first year they did most of the work themselves.

Quick picture.

Creeeeeeeeepy.

Watch out!!

Kyla's Halloween Party

Kyla's class had a Halloween party and I was able to go in and help out.  I loved seeing all of the kids.  They decorated sugar cookies and did crafts.  Right up my alley.

Soccer - The Lightning Dolphins

Kyla plays on the Lightning Dolphins this year.  Brian is coaching along with two other dads.  Let me tell you how much I appreciate Coaches now.  I don't think parents realize that they are volunteering their time.  Doesn't seem like much but takes a lot of time and patience.  Anyway, the girls are doing well, turned out to be a great group of kids.  Kyla has been playing Goalie (along with another girl) and she loves it.  She's quite good at it.  A few weeks ago, she blocked 8+ goals ... didn't let a single one get by her.  Some of the other parents came up to me afterwards to tell me how good she did.  (SMILE) I'm not sure she like to play any of the other position though.  She sometimes gets frustrated when she can't get the ball from the other team.

Soccer - The Piranhas

Mason's having a great time playing on his new soccer team, the Fair Oaks Piranhas.  He's one of the youngest, if not the youngest on the team but let me tell ya, he definitely holds his own.  I can't believe how much more confident and aggressive he is this year.  Maybe it was the Soccer Camp he attended at Sacramento State over the summer.  Mid-fielder is the position for him ... he loves playing both offense and defense.  Wears me out just watching him.  He's scored 2 goals so far this year.

Apples to Apples

I love them!  They sometimes eat 2 apples a day.  Couldn't resist posting this cute one of them together.

Sleep-Over

Saturday, I let the kids each have a friend come over for a sleep-over.  Mason chose Jack and Kyla chose our neighbor, Isabella.  They played and played outside and on the trampoline, we had pizza, brownies, poporn and fun.  When it got dark the boys played on the X-Box and the girls did a craft project.  We watched The Lorax and then it was time for bed.  :-)

Time for brownies.

Kyla couldn't wait for Isa to read her a story at bedtime (although Kyla can read one by herself).  Precious.

Boys, neither of them wear shirts with their jammies.

French Braids

Grammy and Grandpa came into town to watch the kids play soccer and Grammy french braided Kyla's hair for the game.  It turned out so cute ... I'm going to have to watch more YouTube videos to figure out how to do it.

She holds so still.

Cute!

Soccer season

I never knew I'd be a soccer mom, nobody in the town I grew up in played soccer.  Man, was I missing out.  I love watching the kids play.  Saturday mornings are the highlight of my week.  (I know, no life).  They make me feel so proud - always trying their best and being good sports and teammates.  Smile.

Apple Hill - Apple Picking

Believe it or not, we've been going up to Apple Hill during apple season for the past 8 or 9 years and we've never picked our own apples.  This year, we found a U-Pick place and gave it a try.  They had 4 or 5 different kinds of apples.  The kids loved it ... we bought over 11 pounds of apples and they were gone within a week.

The weapons apple picker thingy's were quite handy.  Of course, there was a fight over who would get to carry it (between the kids, LOL) but it worked out.

Mason is so stinkin' photogenic.

This was Kyla, pretty much the entire time.  She definitely ate her money's worth.  I can't believe she didn't get a stomachache.

How does this one look?  Golden Delicious, my personal fave.

Like I said, she ate and ate those apples.

We all loved the fancy-schmancy apple peeler, slicer.
